About Maureen
Dr. Maureen Alexander is a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, Licensed Acupuncturist, Certified Aroma Acupoint therapist, Massage Therapist, and a certified sound healer and meditation practitioner. She holds a Masters in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Emperors College and a Doctorate from Pacific College of Health and Sciences and maintains a private practice in Ithaca, NY.
Maureen’s extensive studying and training have led her under the mentorship of Dr. Robert Chu of Pasadena, CA with an emphasis in Master Tung style acupuncture. She has worked through internships at The Disney Cancer Center and Venice Family Clinics. She shared her skills and expertise with the One World Health Project where she traveled to Sri Lanka and India, treating patients with diabetes, high blood pressure, AIDS and pain.
Her true passion is healing. Her close connection with the body started at a young age through dance. After she pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance from Point Park University, she continued her education at The Finger Lakes School of Massage. Her work as a massage therapist led her to Lake Tahoe where she worked at both Lighthouse Healing Arts and Mountain High Massage and then back to Pennsylvania where she worked at The Holistic Health Center. She then dove even deeper into alternative medicine completing her Masters in Traditional Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture at Emperors College in Santa Monica, CA, and she recently finished her Doctorate in Chinese Medicine through Pacific College of Health and Sciences.
She specializes in pain management and digestive issues and loves connecting with patients to fully understand their needs. She wants patients to feel heard and respected and will work to create a plan for outside of the treatment room to help create optimal results.
